Severe Stomach Pain?? You May Have Ulcerative Colitis..

Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Inflammatory bowel disease is a cluster of disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract. Ulcerative colitis developed when the lining of large intestine and rectum becomes inflamed. Tiny sores, known as ulcers are developed on the lining of the colon due to this inflammation.

This inflammation starts in the rectum and then spreads upwards. The entire colon can effect by the inflammation.  The ulcers may discharge pus and mucus and sometimes causes bleeding. Ulcerative colitis affects people of all ages but mostly diagnosed in the people aged 15 to 35.  Causes of Ulcerative Colitis includes abnormal immune system, environmental impact etc.

Blood test is highly recommended and useful test for Ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic condition and its treatment involves drug therapy or surgery. The doctor prescribes medication for reducing swelling and inflammation. Apart that, a person should follow these guidelines to stay fit.
  • Drink small portion of the water whole day
  • Eating mini meals whole day
  • Avoid fatty or oily food
  • Permit the intake of high fiber food
  • Avoid milk if suffered with lactose intolerance
